1. A hew method has been proposed for the 21-hydroxylation of 16α,17α-epoxypregn-5-en-3β-ol-20-one and it has been shown that 20-hydrazones of derivatives of 16α,17α, 21-tri-hydroxy-20-ketosteroids can be prepared directly from20, 20-dimethyl acetal of 21-hydroxy-16α, 17α-epoxy-20-ketosteroids. 2. 17α-Hydrazino-20-hydrazones can be formed by the action of carbethoxyhydrazine on the steroid 21-hydroxy-16α,17α-epoxy-20-ketosteroids or their derivatives at the keto group.
