Abstract:
A comparative study has been made of the thermal degradation of polyperfluoroxyalkylenetriazine (polymer A) and polyperfluoroalkylenetriazine (polymer B). Introduction of oxygen atoms into the perfluorotriazine chains was found to increase thermal stability. A kinetic study of the gaseous degradation products formed during the decomposition of polyperfluoroxyalkylenetriazine showed this process to occur in two stages. The first stage decomposition arises from structural defects of the polymer chain. A scheme is suggested which accounts for the main degradation products
