Abstract: N-Acetylsialyl bromide with O-acetyl groups was shown to react with isopropyl alcohol either neat or dissolved in CH2Cl2 or MeCN in the absence of added promoter to give the corresponding isopropyl glycoside in 81–84% yield (α:β = 2:1). This is the first example of unpromoted glycosylation of a secondary alcohol with tertiary N-acetylsialyl bromide.
