A novel efficient one-step method for the preparation of α-aminoketones was developed based on multicomponent reaction of allomaltol, arylglyoxals and primary amines. The advantages of this synthesis are good yields, mild reaction conditions, atom economy and easy workup procedure without chromatographic purifications.
