Abstract: 1. An investigation was made of the contact-catalysis reactions of decane at 460° in presence of platinized alumina in a flow system, hydrogen being present at a pressure of 30 or 50 atm. 2. It was shown that, under the conditions described, this hydrocarbon undergoes some far reaching transformations: the reaction product was found to contain aromatic hydrocarbons, cyclopentane and cyclonexane hydrocarbons, and C7-C10 mono- and di-substituted alkanes. C19 monosubstituted alkanes formed 70% of the total amount of C10 isomers present.
