1. Diketones of the bicyclohexyl and cyclopentyleyclohexane series were synthesized by the Michael condensation of cyclic ketones with α, β-unsaturated cyclic ketones. 2. When 3,4-dihydro-6-methoxy-1-(2H)-naphthalenone (III) was condensed with 2-methyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one (IV) and with 2-methyl-2-cyclopenten-1-one (IX) in presence of potassium tett-butoxide in tert-butyl alcohol and dioxane, the respective products, obtained in about 50% yield, were the diketones (V) and (X). Condensation cyclohexanone with 2-methyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one gave the diketone (XI)in 59% yield.
