Abstract: The electrochemical corrosion of a gold anode in a weakly basic aqueous solution of triethylenetetramine was studied. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy revealed the formation of a compact gold deposit on the cathode and gold nanoparticles in the electrolyte. The kinetics and mechanism of the corrosion of the gold anode were studied by gravimetry and cyclic voltammetry. The formation of colloidal gold particles in solution was established by transmission electron microscopy.
