Abstract: An efficient catalytic system based on commercially available nickel source (NiCp2), N-heterocyclic carbene, and a reducing agent (HCOONa) for selective C(5)H-alkylation of amides and esters of 2-furancarboxylic acid with alkenes of various structures was developed. A series of new previously undescribed 5-alkyl derivatives of 2-furancarboxylic acid were synthesized.
