Abstract: A preparative method has been developed for the synthesis of previously unknown 3,3,4-trihydroxy­benzimidazo[2,1-b][1,3]thiazinium salts in up to 93% yield by the microwave-assisted reaction of chloro oxiranes and chloro ketones containing an acetal moiety with 1-ethyl-1H-benzimidazole-2-thiol in 95% ethanol. The synthesized compounds are of interest for medicinal chemistry.
