Abstract: Alternative approaches were developed to introduce deuterium atoms into the steroid backbone and the side chain of a short-chain derivative of the phytoecdysteroid 20-hydroxyecdysone, poststerone acetonide, using LiAlD4 and D2O as deuterating agents.
