Abstract: A method for the radical 1,2-fluoroalkylation/stannylation of terminal alkynes using fluorinated bromides and a tin(II) salt is described. The reaction is performed under photocatalytic conditions and involves radical addition at the triple bond followed by interaction of the vinyl radical with tin(II). Treatment of the reaction mixture with butylzinc bromide leads to vinyl tributylstannanes, which can be involved in the Stille cross-coupling or subjected to iododestannylation.
