Abstract:
Six novel 1,3-disubstituted bis-pyridinium compounds containing two kojic acid fragments in the linker were synthesized via three simple steps from kojic acid, 1,4-di-bromobutane and 3-(alkylamino)pyridines. An assessment of the bacteriostatic and bactericidal potential of the obtained compounds against reference and clinical strains of ESKAPE pathogens showed their ability to inhibit the growth and to destroy mature biofilms of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
