Abstract: Convenient syntheses of methylene bisorganophosphorus acid derivatives with O—C—P—C—P—C—O and N—C—P—C—P—C—N units have been developed based on synthons with two three-coordinated phosphorus atoms (PCH2P) using alkoxy- and dialkylaminomethylating reagents. The reaction of synthons with four-coordinated phosphorus atoms (P(O)CH2P(O)) with dialkylaminomethylating reagents occurs exclusively at the methylene group to give vinylidene bisorganophosphorus acid derivatives. The resulting compounds, functionalized derivatives of methylene bisorganophosphorus acids, are structural analogs of natural pyrophosphates and amino carboxylic acids and are of interest as promising biologically active substances, water-soluble polydentate ligands, and effective extractants, as well as monomers for the synthesis of various phosphorus-containing polymers.
