Abstract:
The chapter describes approaches for the synthesis of compounds possessing a carbon atom bonded to three chalcogens by a single bond.
It includes ortho esters and similar compounds possessing, e.g. sulfur or selenium. The literature published since 2004 is covered. Various
approaches are described including Williamson-type reactions, transformations of esters, thioesters etc., oxidation of acеtals, additions to
ketene acetals and cycloadditions/annulations.
