Abstract: For the direct partial oxidation of propane with oxygen, we designed a hybrid catalytic system based on a palladium-containing heterogeneous catalyst with an addition of previously developed homogeneous promoters. Natural materials were used as palladium catalyst supports: opoka from the Taskalinskoe deposit and diatomite from the Utesaiskoe deposit in the western part of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The proposed catalytic system, consisting of Pd/natural support (with 0.5 wt % Pd) and FeSO4 additive, promoted the partial oxidation of propane with molecular oxygen in an H2O–CH3COOH medium, yielding propyl acetates with high acetone and propanal selectivity as the main products. The obtained catalysts were characterized by physicochemical methods. The catalyst activity was affected by the support treatment procedure. The highest activity was demonstrated by the catalysts supported on diatomite and opoka, calcinated at 500°C.
