Abstract: 4,7-Dibromo-5,6-dinitrobenzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole has recently become one of the most important heterocyclic precursors for constructing functional materials with unique physical properties. This microreview summarizes data on the synthesis of this bicycle, its reactivity, and the creation of NIR-II fluorophores, components of high-efficiency solar cells, and other materials based on it.
