Abstract: 1,3,4-Oxadiazoles are important heterocyclic scaffolds which have vast applications in pharmaceutical industry and materials science. New 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives are constantly being prepared to meet modern requirements of drug candidates and functional materials. As a result, new synthetic strategies for the assembly of the 1,3,4-oxadiazole ring are developed, and new opportunities for functionalization and reactivity of 1,3,4-oxadiazoles are unveiled. In this review, recent developments on the synthesis, reactivity and applications of 1,3,4-oxadiazoles reported during the period 2019–2023 is discussed.
