Abstract:
Kinetics and mechanism of anodic oxidation of an Au electrode in a weakly basic aqueous solution of secondary diaminoalkanes (N1,N2-dimethylethane-1,2-diamine and piperazine) were studied by cyclic voltammetry and gravimetry. It was found using scanning and transmission electron microscopy that the oxidation products of the Au anode under galvanostatic conditions are reduced on the steel cathode with the formation of an electrolytic precipitate of Au(0), and colloidal gold nanoparticles of a round shape are formed in the diamine medium. The gold nanoparticles were of 2–7 nm (in the case of N1,N2-dimethylethane-1,2-diamine) or 4–15 nm (in the case of piperazine), and their number was significantly greater in an aqueous solution of piperazine than in a solution of the acyclic diamine.
