Abstract: In recent decade, significant achievements in research on nanoenergetic materials have been realized. The principle of nanoenergetics is the enhancement of the specific surface area and intimacy with chemical components to improve the reaction rate while reducing the ignition delay at an acceptable level of safety. As a rule, nanoenergetic materials exhibit higher heat release rates and optimized combustion levels. A unique set of properties of nanoenergetic materials unveils novel opportunities of their application as nano additives for various energetic formulations. This chapter covers recent advances in a preparation of organic nanoenergetics, such as nanosized HMX, RDX, and CL-20. Along with nanomaterials based on commonly used explosives, several modern nitrogen-rich nanosized energetic materials are also considered. Preparation of state-of-the-art nano cocrystals as well as hybrid nano organic–inorganic materials are also included. Application perspectives of the described nanoenergetics as powerful energetic materials of new generation are especially emphasized.
