Abstract: A mechanistic examination of the photochemical properties of a dithienylethene-containing push-pull system with the cyclopentenone bridge has been performed using time-resolved methods. The molecule studied possesses a notable combination of photochromic and fluorescent properties. Visible light only switching was accomplished using blue and green LED sources.
