Abstract: A general synthesis of 2-chloromethoxy-1-diazene oxides from their salts was developed. Alkylation of the sodium salts of oxytriazene oxides with 2-chloromethoxy-1-diazene oxides gave hitherto unknown compounds bearing the oxydiazene oxide and oxytriazene oxide units bridged by the methylene group via the oxygen atoms. The synthesized compounds are of interest as potential nitric oxide donors in living organisms.
