Abstract: Synthesis of new potential NO donors in living organisms, 1,1’-[methylenebis(oxy)]bis(triaz- 1-ene 2-oxides) bearing from two to four 2-nitroxyethyl groups at the nitrogen atoms was accomplished. The developed synthetic approaches involves either nucleophilic substitution of the bromine atoms of the corresponding N-2-bromoethyl derivatives of 1,1’-[methylenebis(oxy)]-bis(triaz-1-ene 2-oxides) or nitration of its 2-hydroxyethyl analogs. Some of the synthesized compounds are of interest as promising energetic materials.
