Abstract: N-Substituted imidazo[4,5-e]benzo[1,2-c;3,4-c’]difuroxans were synthesized by phase-transfer catalyzed alkylation of imidazo[4,5-e]benzo[1,2-c;3,4-c’]difuroxan salts with various alkylating agents. Acid hydrolysis of N-(ethoxycarbonylmethyl)imidazo[4,5-e]benzo-[1,2-c;3,4-c’]difuroxans gives the corresponding carboxylic acids. Structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by NMR spectroscopy, high resolution mass spectrometry, IR spectroscopy, and elemental anslysis.
