Abstract: The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of isoquinolinium ylides to nitrostilbenes provides an approach to 1,2-diarylpyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinolinium-3-carboxylates and then to a complete hexacyclic lamellarin core.
