Abstract:
Various silicon, sulfur, phosphorous, and trifluoroacetate-based reagents are employed to effect the addition of difluoromethyl and trifluoromethyl carbanions to carbonyl compounds and azomethines. In the chapter, the scope of this methodology and the key mechanistic concepts are discussed.
