Abstract: The reactions of dithienyl-substituted furanones with hydrazines afford the corresponding pyridazinone-bridged dithienylethenes with photochromic properties. The structure of 4,5-bis-(2,5-dimethyl-3-thienyl)-2,6-dimethyl-2H-pyridazin-3-one was established by X-ray diffraction.
