Abstract: A new synthesis of α-trifluoromethylstyrenes from aromatic ketones and (trifluoromethyl) trimethylsilane is described. The reaction involves nucleophilic trifluoromethylation and elimination of trimethylsilanol, which are performed within one reaction flask.
