Abstract: Quantitative EPR and NMR monitoring of phthalimide-N-oxyl radical (PINO) generation from N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI) and its degradation along with decay product analysis and control experiments is presented. Collected data were used to propose general picture of PINO decay, recommend conditions for PINO stability enhancement and development of improved NHPI/PINO catalyzed processes.
