Abstract:
1. We have synthesized sulfonium dinitroylides of the type R2 S+---C(NO2) 2and confirmed their nitroearbanion structure. 2. Protonation of the sulfonium dinitroylides by sulfuric acid forms the dinitromethylsulfonium salts. 3. We have determined the basicity of dimethylsulfonium dinitromethylide, (CH3)2 S+--C(NO2)2 , by a spectrophotometric method.
