Abstract:
An approach for the synthesis of difficult-to-access bridged 1,2,4,5-tetraoxanes (tetraoxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptanes) from 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds containing allyl and homoallyl substituents under heterogeneous conditions was developed. The use of strongly acidic cationite as a peroxidation catalyst allowed minimization of side processes and preparation of 1,2,4,5-tetraoxane derivatives containing alkenyl substituents at position 1 or 7 in up to 90% yield. The resulting compounds can be used for the synthesis of heterocyclic hybrid structures containing a 1,2,4,5-tetraoxane fragment.
