Abstract: Functionalized phosphinic acids bearing aminomethyl and 2-carboxyethyl groups were synthesized using vinylpyridines as the starting material. The radical addition of bis(trimethylsiloxy)phosphine to vinylpyridines proceeded regioselectively to give new (2-pyridinylethyl)phosphonites. The later were aminomethylated and 2-carboxyethylated to obtain the target phosphinic acids. The synthesized compounds are of interest as the promising biologically active substances and efficient ligands.
